Abner Brown

M.C., Registered Provisional Psychologist

I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist with a Master’s of Counselling degree. I am keenly aware of how our individual experiences, environments, and circumstances interrelate with one another, and the impact this can have on us. Through a meaningful and collaborative therapeutic relationship, I provide a safe, genuine, and warm environment for individuals to create change in their lives.

I value diversity and have experience working with people of all backgrounds. I have a passion for working with adolescents and adults to overcome a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, low self-esteem, grief and challenges related to gender identity/dysphoria and sexual orientation. In addition, I have a special interest in working with individuals in the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing community, as I have intimate knowledge of this culture and can provide services in ASL.

I use a person-centred and integrative approach to help my clients reach their goals, and draw from a range of psychological theories and counselling modalities including: Narrative Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

I believe all people have an inherent ability to heal, and acknowledge the courage it takes to reach out for support. If you are looking to create change in your life and feel I could support you through this process, please reach out. I welcome the opportunity to work with you!

Abner is currently offering in-person and online appointments.

Please note that online therapy is only available for individuals living within the province of Alberta.
