Mental Health First Aid Training
One in three Canadians will experience a mental health problem in their lifetime. Although mental illness is just as common as physical illness, most people have limited knowledge regarding the different types of mental health disorders. This lack of understanding creates stigma, which prevents people from getting the help they need when they need it.
Mental Health First Aid is an initiative of the Mental Health Commission of Canada. The goal of Mental Health First Aid training is to improve mental health literacy and provide people with the knowledge and skills needed to help themselves, friends, family members, or colleagues who may be in crisis.
Mental Health First Aid Canada offers the following content in a two day course:
- Signs and symptoms of common mental health problems and crisis situations
- Information about effective interventions and treatments
- Ways to access professional help
Edgar Psychological offers the two day basic Mental Health First Aid course, delivered by certified and experienced instructors, available to professional or community organizations within Edmonton and surrounding areas. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
